As 2014 draws to a close I wanted to write to you to say, once again, what wonderful young people you send us to educate at ALNS. Their achievements in the academic, sporting, creative and performing fields have been excellent this year. It has been a very proud first term for me as their Headteacher!
A number of staff will not be returning next term as they move on to pastures new. We say a fond farewell to Mrs Hallin, who has been working on reception within the Admin team and also to Mr Okai, who has been a Mathematics teacher here for the past 6 years. A big thank you for all their many contributions to ALNS and our best wishes for their futures.
Mrs Mills is retiring from teaching after more than 30 years teaching in Portsmouth. She was one of the original 12 members of staff who established Admiral Lord Nelson School back in 1995 and has been responsible for leading our work here to support our students with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities for nearly 20 years. As well as teaching within the English department, Mrs Mills has also been a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and a keen advocate of ensuring that ALNS developed into the highly inclusive school that it is today. We wish her all the very best in her retirement and thank her for everything she has done for the children of ALNS, past, present and future!
Students return to school on Monday 5th January 2015 for what promises to be another exciting year for ALNS! I would ask you to look carefully at the attached uniform and equipment requirements for students at ALNS and ensure that we continue to work together to ensure that all of our children adhere to these expectations every day.
Finally, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful and happy new year.
