On Friday 10th of July our Year 9 students took part in a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award taster day.
The ELSO side of the year group took part in a map skills session, were given some first aid training and also did a ‘one pot cooking’ session based on the sort of food they might cook on a D of E expedition. The VAHN side took part in a physical team building activity on the school field, before having their navigational skills put to the test with an orienteering task run over at Great Salterns. After lesson three, the students swapped activities.
The day was a great success, with students learning new skills and also getting a really good insight into what the D of E Award is all about.
