Enterprising Women Conference

Enterprising Women Conference

10 students from ALNS attended the Enterprising Women Conference at Chichester University on 18th November.  Despite a late arrival due to transport issues the girls very quickly settled in.  The Enterprising Women Conference aimed to raise the aspirations and motivation of young girls from Hampshire and West Sussex by showcasing a variety of business professionals they discussed their progression journeys from school to where they are today.  The morning started with an introduction and opening speech by Sally Jones – Defence Marine Service Team Leader who coincidently uses the motto ‘Dare to Dream’ very familiar for our students though we go one step further and encourage our students to ‘Aim to Achieve’.  Students were then given the opportunity to interview 3 business professionals, the overriding message from everyone was be brave, believe in yourself, sometimes you will have knock backs but use these to your advantage, communication is key – ask questions, query ideas and talk to people, don’t be afraid to change directions in their career pathway.

Students then took part in a Self-Analysis activity to find out which Careers match Personality Types, this proved quite accurate in several cases.  The girls found the event very inspiring.
