Its been a busy Autumn term at Garden Club. Katrina’s Garden has been cleared and made ready for next years gardening competition. The vegetable beds on the playing fields have been dug-over for the winter, the wild flower meadow has been strimmed and cleared to allow regrowth next year and the club members have made a start on harvesting the willow from our wild area for use in basket making and willow weaving. We have already made our Christmas wreaths from the harvested willow.
Other popular club sessions included the ever-popular pumpkin carving with pumpkins grown on or own plots, a bonfire party on the fields with toasted marshmallows and we’ve also enjoyed cooking many of the fruits and vegetables we have grow during the year. We’ve made a fruit crumble, tomato and lentil soup and cooked vegetable crisps.
Club members also helped to decorate the school’s huge Christmas tree for display in the mall.
