We are looking forward with eager anticipation to the start of the academic year 2016-17. A reminder that Monday 5th September 2016 is an INSET day for staff only. We look forward to welcoming our Year 7 and Year 11 students back on Tuesday 6th September; a reminder – students should be in school by 8.20am and Year 7 students will finish school at 3.05pm. Wednesday 7th September will be the first day back to school for years 8, 9 and 10 students.
I would like to remind all students that our Hamiltons Catering tills will no longer be accepting cash payments for food and drinks purchased. Parents are strongly advised to ensure that an online payment has been made into their child’s ParentPay account prior to the start of term so that students can quickly purchase food and drink at breaktimes. If difficulties are experienced using the online payment system, students can bring cash in and pay it into their account at the school bank, however this method should only be used if online payment proves difficult so that we can minimise queuing time for students at the bank.

Finally, I would like to congratulate all of our Year 11 students for last year who worked hard to achieve very good results, with 75% of students gaining an A* – C grade in English and 75% of students gaining an A* – C grade in Mathematics. We are proud of their achievements, which would not have been possible without the tremendous support they received from their parents and families.
I look forward to working closely in partnership, school and parents, as we look to make 2016-17 our best year yet at ALNS.
