On Wednesday 2 November, we were joined by Year 5 students for a Science and English Taster experience after school.
The session had a focus on an appreciation of nature and the environment around us alongside creating ideas for poetry. We combined the Romantic poets’ appreciation of nature with a more scientific exploration of nature.
Autumn leaves and associated plants were studied under a microscope. Students created images and explored language associated with their discoveries and their own appreciation of nature. They also did some chemistry to create fireworks – an appreciation of the stunning sights at this time of year – and then put their explorations into practice in the form of poetry.
A fun time was had by all!
