Dear Parent

Imminent ‘Storm Emma’

All the indicators in the weather forecast show there may be significant snow/weather issues tomorrow, although the times of this are constantly changing.

We need to be very careful that we balance keeping students and staff (several of our staff travel and do not live in the Portsmouth area) safe, whilst continuing with our core purpose of teaching and learning and that we do not inconvenience parent’s daily routines and plans.

Tomorrow the weather forecast is for severe weather in the afternoon, IF and only IF this happens we will close the school at 1.45pm, we will then only lose one hour of teaching and this will allow students and staff to get home safely. You will be notified by text if this happens and it will be on the ALNS website, Facebook and Twitter.

On Friday 2nd March we intend that the school will be open as usual. If there is any change to this you will be notified by text, it will be on the school website, Facebook and Twitter as well as the Portsmouth County Council website and local radio stations. Closing the school is unlikely and we will make every effort to keep the school open particularly for Year 11 students.

Thank you in advance for your continued support and understanding during this period of uncertain weather conditions.

Yours sincerely

Mrs N Hardingham

Headteacher
