ALNS awarded Champion School status for the NCS programme!

On Wednesday 5th September ALNS was very proud to become a Champion School for the NCS programme in Portsmouth. We were awarded the certificate during the NCS graduation ceremony at Portsmouth Guildhall.

The NCS programme is for Year 11 students over the summer holidays before college begins. It involves a residential trip to Dorset where students learn to cook for each other, first aid, take part in watersports, camping and learn a range of life skills. This is followed by a social project where they can really make a difference within our city. Students take part in the programme for 3 weeks.

ALNS had the biggest sign up and engagement within the city this year and the students who took part said it was life changing at the graduation ceremony on Wednesday.
NCS will be back at ALNS this year too where our new Year 11s can sign up to the programme for just £35 for an amazing summer.

“National Citizen Service (NCS) is an experience you really don’t want to miss. If you’re 15 to 17 years-old, this is your chance to embark on exhilarating challenges, make your mark and build skills for work and life. More than 275,000 young people have already said YES to NCS. Don’t. Miss. Out.”
