Over half term, some of our budding Year 8 historians visited Ypres to develop their learning of World War One from their History lessons. The students were able to explore the preserved trenches, awe at the artefacts in the various museums and remember the sacrifice of Allied and German soldiers at their respected cemeteries. However the highlight of the visit was witnessing the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate where four of our most enthusiastic and passionate students were chosen to lay a wreath on behalf of ALNS. Overall, this experience gripped our students from start to finish and provided them with additional information and personalised stories to add to their studies.
“At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
