On Wednesday 19th June ALNS Drama students were invited to perform at the Portsmouth Guildhall as part of Portsmouth’s launch to become a City of Sanctuary.
Our students created a piece of Drama using three true stories from Syrian refuges and their journeys. They performed to an invited audience of over 100 supporters of the bid. The piece was simple but extremely powerful and had a real impact on the audience as they were performing to people who had undergone this journey themselves. The feedback from the audience was overwhelming for the students.
During the afternoon we were also told that Admiral Lord Nelson will become the first School of Sanctuary in Portsmouth due to our inclusive nature and welcoming ethos, our students understanding of global issues and our passion for sharing our practice.
