As we approach the end of 2019, I reflect back on an excellent term here at school! The sense of teamwork continues to go from strength to strength and I wanted to express my continued joy in having the privilege of leading such a wonderful learning community of staff, students, parents and volunteers here at Admiral Lord Nelson School!
Your children‘s achievements across all areas of school life have been fantastic again this year and I look forward to presenting many awards to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of some of the top performers in each House at our Celebration Assemblies on Friday morning. Friday will be our usual festive fun day culminating in our legendary Staff Review in the afternoon, after which we will send your children home early to start their well-deserved holiday at 2.00pm.
On Thursday 19th December at 7.00pm, we will be holding our Performing Arts Evening. Parents and students are warmly invited to join us to see a showcase of Drama, Dance and Music performances in the school hall; tickets cost £2.00, payable on the door.
As always, I wish to thank you as parents for the tremendous way that you work in partnership with the school, supporting your child’s education and enabling them to be successful at ALNS. It is appreciated by all our hardworking staff who understand that all success is built on this strong partnership. In particular this term, I have been impressed that everyone has taken the disruption caused by the extensive building works in their stride and I thank you all for your patience and forbearance with any difficulties this causes.
Many of the highlights of the term are recorded in our school Latitude (the latest edition is expected to be released this week), on our website and on social media (ALNS Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) so you are informed about the exciting activities that your children do here in lessons as well as outside them. Keep an eye out too for the regular photographs of the construction works so that you can share in the sense of excitement as we see our new building beginning to take shape! Use the hashtag #alnsexpansion to quickly find the latest.
As we look to continually improve our communication with parents we now rely on email as our primary form of communication with you so can I ask you to contact the school to update your email address as a matter of urgency if you have not received our weekly parent bulletin [email protected] this term.
This term we say goodbye to the following members of staff who leave us to move on to their chosen futures:
- Sam Hudson – Music
- Burney Warren – Inclusion
- Zoe Adams – Broadside
- Emma Wain – Teaching Assistant
- Emma Purnell – Maths
Students return to school on Monday 6th January 2020 for what promises to be another exciting year of learning at ALNS! We also welcome Rebecca Thomas (Inclusion) and Neil Fitzpatrick (Maths) to our staff team next term.
Finally, on behalf of the staff and Governors, it just remains for me to wish you and your family a very enjoyable festive season and a healthy, happy and successful New Year!
