Partial School Closures for this week (16th-20th March 2020)

Based upon current levels of staff absence due to self-isolation and illness, we have reluctantly taken the decision that we can no longer safely keep the school open to all students.

However, will we prioritise students in Year 11, to support them as they prepare for their examinations.

Please see below the plan for the remainder of the week:

  • Year 10 students will not be required to attend school on Wednesday 18th March, but should return on Thursday 19th March.
  • Year 9 students will not be required to attend school on Thursday 19th March, but should return on Friday 20th March.
  • Year 8 students will not be required to attend school on Friday 20th March.

As I am sure you appreciate, this is a difficult situation to manage. Year groups that are unable to attend school will be set appropriate tasks by their teachers on Show My Homework. Parents will be also be able to access this using their child’s log-ins.

A decision will be made later in the week regarding the provision for the week commencing Monday 23rd March. This will be dependent on the number of staff self-isolating or ill for other reasons.

For closed year groups, we would like to continue to offer a provision for vulnerable pupils, for example, looked after children, or pupils with Education and Health Care Plans. We may also be able to offer a provision for children of health workers, teachers and care home workers. If parents or children fall into these groups, and provision is required, please email [email protected] before 7.30am on the day of partial closure.

Please encourage your child to make every effort with their work, both at home and at school. The more routine that can be established, the less unsettling the current situation is for all.

This is a challenging and stressful time for everyone and I am very aware of the impact that a partial closure will have on families. Please be reassured that this decision has not been taken lightly.

We are waiting further guidance from the Government and will update you when we receive more information. Please continue to monitor the school website and our Social Media accounts to ensure you keep are aware of the latest guidance and implications on the school.

Many thanks for your support and understanding.
