Our evidence shows that high levels of parental engagement has a huge impact on student achievement and to that end I would like to take this opportunity to invite you and your child to attend an additional briefing for Year 11 parents on Thursday 19th March 2020 at 5.00p.m.
Most students now have a good idea how they performed in their Mock exams. Some students are feeling a little disappointed and apprehensive while some will feel they are on the right path and pleased with how they are doing. In both cases parental engagement is key to your child’s success. Last year, we had large number of students who made up to two grades additional progress as a result of their action between the mock exams and their final GCSE exams.
The evening will last no more than 45 mins and will begin with an introduction offering general advice about how you can support your child in the ‘final run-in’ and then during the GCSE examination period. This will be followed by subject specific guidance from the curriculum leaders of English, Maths and Science about how you can support your child to improve in their core subjects. You will be given your child’s final mock examination grades on your arrival to the evening so you will know exactly how they are currently doing. For those parents unable to able to attend we will be posting your child’s mock grades home on Friday 20th March.
We look forward to seeing you at this event and thank you in advance for all the support you’ve already provided your child and the school. The partnership we have already built can and will make a huge difference over the next few months.
