End of our First Week Back at School

I just wanted to write a short message to you all at the end of this momentous week!

We have been absolutely delighted to see all of our children back at school again, learning alongside one another with their teachers and tutors. Attendance has been extremely high, as has the uptake of Lateral Flow Testing.

The test centre is up and running in the re-purposed sports hall.

Your children have been tremendous in coping with the requirements of the first day of testing and we are now undertaking the second tests today with our year 11 and year 8 students, which is all going very smoothly dovetailed in normal lessons. A huge thank you to Mr Hutton and the staff who are running the Asymptomatic Testing Centre in the sports hall so effectively to help mitigate transmission risk of the Covid virus even further, which is keeping us all that bit safer!

I also want to relay to you how incredibly impressed we have been by how responsibly your children have behaved so far regarding the compulsory wearing of face coverings in lessons. They are rising to this fresh challenge brilliantly and without complaint – I am so proud of them all!

Mr Doherty is wearing his mask!

So, as we reach the end of this week, I do hope that you are feeling a sense of relief that your children are safely returned to school and that your family life can return towards more normal times. If we can all continue to remain vigilant regarding the ‘Hands, Face, Space’ transmission mitigation measures, then hopefully the infection rates will continue to fall and the government will be able to follow the roadmap outlined by the Prime Minister and we can look forward to more social freedoms in the coming weeks for us all.

Hands, face, space!

Finally, I wish you all a restful weekend (especially for your children, who will no doubt be feeling more tired than usual following their return to school this week) and I want to thank you again for your continued superb support for your children and the staff at school throughout this lockdown period, it is greatly appreciated!

Take care & stay safe,
