I write to you today with some disappointing news regarding transition days. Unfortunately, we have received the following communication from Portsmouth City Council:-
“With the rapidly increasing number of coronavirus cases in schools, we have reluctantly taken the decision to recommend to schools not to go ahead with the year 6 transition days that some schools had been planning for 21st July, although ultimately it is a decision for schools. We appreciate that this will be disappointing for pupils and schools, but given the potential of these events to hasten transmission we feel this is the most sensible course of action at this time”
As a result, we will be following this recommendation and reluctantly cancelling our planned transition day for next week. Whilst we recognise this is a real shame and will possibly cause some extra nerves, we would like to reassure you that we have a planned start to school in September that involves only year 7 being in school on the first day, acting in the same way as a transition day with planned tours, “getting to know you” activities and a programme of introductions to our staff, systems and their fellow students.
Have a lovely summer, we can’t wait to meet you all!
