Broadside Intervention Trip – Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

Dockyard

Students from our Broadside Intervention provision experienced a trip to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard on Thursday 24th September.  They had the opportunity of taking part in activities at ‘Action Stations’ during the first part of the trip, and this proved very popular.

The competitive edge of the students was bought out by completing challenges on the climbing walls, ‘kick boxing’ and other action simulators.  During this part of the day students also enjoyed a short action film which showed how the Royal Navy use teamwork and co-ordination in responding to challenges and situations.

After a short break for lunch the students took the opportunity to explore HMS Victory, and they learnt various things about life on board the ship, not to mention Admiral Lord Nelson himself  This experience prompted many interesting discussions about what they had found out about the famous Admiral from whom our own school takes its name.

This was a very successful and enjoyable trip for all of our Broadside Intervention provision students – we are already looking forward to the next on which takes place on Friday 9th October.
