Which Job for Me?

Whether you are in Year 8 and looking at deciding on your option choices or in Year 10 and 11 thinking ahead to possible future career pathways it can be hard to know where to start, there are so many jobs out there, many of which you will not of heard of before but could suit you. Below are a couple of websites which can come up with possible career options that you may want to consider. When you see a particular job role that which is of interest you look at the qualifications required, this will help you to select college courses or whether an apprenticeship is the best option.

Don’t panic if you have no idea of what you would like to do for the future, when selecting your options or thinking of college/apprenticeships remember to look at what you are good at, what you enjoy and what you are interested in and what you would like to have a go at

Start Profile – create and account and complete the About Me sections, there are four to complete My Interests, My Work Preference, My Skills and My Qualities, once these are completed the programme will make suggestions that you may wish to investigate further

Buzz Quiz – you don’t need to create an account in order to complete the quizz, as with Start Profile once you have answered the questions it will make possible career suggestions

National Careers Service – you don’t need to create an account in order to complete the skills assessment, again possible career pathways/job roles will be suggested

Target Careers – Lots of useful information and tips across a variety of topics

A – Z of Jobs

Prospects – you can search for jobs on this website by job title or by job sector

National Careers Service – you can either search for a specific job or click on a careers sector to see the wide variety of roles within a particular sector

Go Construct – if you are considering a career in construction this website lists many of the jobs that you could consider
