NALA

Invitation to the NALA conference on 29th June in Nottingham.

As President of the National Association of Language Advisers (NALA) I would like to extend a personal invitation to you to attend our annual conference on 29 June in Nottingham.

What is NALA?   NALA a long-standing independent association for anyone who offers advice and support in the field of language teaching and learning.  Our members come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences from primary to secondary to higher education and teacher education.  Like you – and put simply - our members are passionate about language learning and teaching!

This year’s NALA Conference is to be held at The University of Nottingham on 29 June 2024 and explores the theme of  ‘Improving Access to Modern Language Learning’.

The conference will run from 9.30 -16.10 and speakers will include:

Sascha Stollhans, whose work on a diverse language classroom is inspired by linguistics.

Zara Fahim, who will talk on bridging the gap between community languages and ML.

Warda Farah, a speech and language therapist, whose work is strongly based on social justice.

Anna Grainger, a school-based practitioner, and co-founder of Coventry City of Languages.

Bella Cox, a multi-lingual performance poet and facilitator who will create an unusual final session.  (In my view, her session is not to be missed!!!)

The programme will also include opportunities for networking, asking questions and round table discussion.  Please see the attached flier for full details.

The Association’s members would like to invite you to attend. The cost for non-members would normally be £105 but we would like to offer you and any interested colleagues a place at this year’s conference for £85 per person.

Here is the link to the booking form on the NALA website.

Some delegates are staying locally the night before and meeting for dinner. Do ask if that would be of interest to you.

It would be really good to see you at the conference. Your questions, contributions and perspectives would be most valued in the networking and discussion sessions.

And finally, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any queries whatsoever about NALA or the conference.  (Email:  [email protected] / 0754548826)
