Ethics and Philosophy
Ethics and Philosophy (Religious Education) is taught once a fortnight throughout Year 7-9.
We follow the ethos of our British Values (democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and Tolerance) and as a Rights Respecting School.
Within the three years, we cover the major world religions including:
-
Christianity
-
Islam
-
Buddhism
-
Judaism
-
Sikhism
We also look at ethical issues such as:
-
The Death Penalty
-
The act of Forgiveness
-
Abortion - For and against arguments
-
Assisted Dying
Ethics and Philosophy follows a formalised sequence of lesson, assessment and oracy opportunities to expand the understanding of the students and instil a sense of respect and tolerance for all.
You have the right to withdraw your child from Ethics & Philosophy lessons.
